Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome!

Hi there traveler and welcome to my shop blog!

It's here that I will be adding a lot of the photos of my past work over the years.  Old stock items I have discontinued as well as the custom items I have done along with a description of the process I use to etch glass!

Thank you so much for joining me on this journey!

The beginning!

At the age of 14 I was apprenticed with a family friend and stained glass artist.

I never really took to the stained glass work so she decided to give me access to her sandblaster and showed me how to do the basics of glass etching.

When I was trained, all of my resists were either hand drawn or traced art set on Contact Shelf Paper vinyl, applied to the glass and hand cut and weeded with an Xacto hobby knife.

As I got older and started incorporating home PC's into my life more I decided to see if I could start making the art for my etchings digitally and printing it to vinyl.  After a number of tries I was able to figure out a way to make all my designs digitally, print them and hand cut and weed the vinyl.

Now well into my thirties and I had been etching this way for decades, I discovered some of the first Craft Cutters on the market.  I started saving.  The fact that I had to hand cut all my designs was one of the only obstacles to being able to quickly make and etch my art and significantly cut the final price so that would be more affordable to your everyday nerd.

So here I am now, in my 40's.  Newly divorced and moved halfway across the country from where I began.  Relying solely on my art and other small side gigs to make my way in this world.

After 10k+ pieces etched over the last 30 years it has been a wild ride. But an amazing, worthwhile one and I cannot wait to share my art and past works with you here.

Cheers, Nix
